Drive on the Right
Qatar drives on the right side with left-hand-drive vehicles. Roads in Doha are modern and well-signed. Roundabouts are common and traffic inside has priority. Lane discipline can be inconsistent during peak hours.

Qatar invested billions in road infrastructure for the 2022 World Cup. Highways are excellent, well-lit, and feature clear signage in Arabic and English. The expressway network connects all major areas efficiently.
Zero Alcohol Tolerance
Qatar has zero tolerance for alcohol-impaired driving. Any detectable blood alcohol results in arrest, imprisonment, and deportation. Alcohol is only available at licensed hotel venues. Never drink and drive.
Speed Limits & Cameras
Urban: 60–80 km/h. Highways: 100–120 km/h. Speed cameras are extensive and fines start at QAR 500. Using a mobile phone while driving carries a QAR 500 fine. Seatbelts are mandatory.
